I've already got a Discover Bank account, which is at 0.9%. I recently got an offer from Citibank to open a checking account that has a bonus of up to $1,500 if a certain amount is deposited in "new to Citi" funds and held there for a set amount of time. Their savings account is also at 1.01%.

I ended up getting a fine from FDOT for the bounced check. It took a complaint to the CFPB to get Citi to reimburse me for the fine and postage to send another check. They kept saying I needed to call them to activate checking even though I'd written checks on the account before. There's a reason they're offering you $500 to open an account.

I selected the savings account where there was no service fee if you maintained a $500 balance. Initially, things were fine. I was able to transfer my money in.
